Augmented reality (AR) superimposes digital elements on top of the real world to enhance one’s perception of the environment, providing an overlapping view that combines both realities. This means that through the screen of a device I can see and interact with digital elements such as hotspots, multimedia content, and virtual staging within a point cloud that defines and demarcates the physical environment within which I am moving. Navigation can also be via menus.

Within the cloud, “routes” can be generated to reach points of interest. Digital elements including hotspots and advertising rather than informational elements can be inserted along these routes.
