Limbo is a boutique festival of music, nature, outdoor activities, talks and food and wine explorations. What distinguishes a boutique festival is usually its limited capacity and the activities offered, often related precisely to art, nature and its spirituality. Another of its strengths has to be the location: the Il Ciocco estate that hosts the festival is located in the heart of the Serchio Valley, a fascinating and mysterious corner of Tuscany situated between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
The goal of the project is to emphasize the events offered by the festival while also keeping the focus on the host setting. The footage taken by drone renders the beauty of the surroundings and gives a sense of the special charm of the surrounding valleys. The panoramas feature informational and multimedia hotspots that talk about the area as well as functional jumps for moving from one point to another on the estate.
The mountain that hosts the festival is represented by a map where different points of interest are highlighted divided into the categories indicated by the organization that include both hospitality and, for example, the transfer service available to guests following an ideal route from the base to the summit where the event is held. The menu uncovers the hotspots in the different categories, and clicking on the map takes you to the different locations. The same happens in the mobile version for which the map function (which can be enlarged) has been retained but forcing the horizontal orientation of the screen. The graphics of the icons and information panels featured as hotspots within the interactive navigation were provided by the organization to give continuity with what the user can then find on site.
In order to place the events within the same context, digital twins were made of all the designated areas, especially of all the stages equipped for activities within the nest (festival area). From there, a navigation menu was constructed that could collect all the multimedia content related to the event held at that particular location.
All editions of the festival can be viewed from the menu of the digital twin of Il Ciocco Studios, the historic recording studio where VideoMusic, Europe’s first music television station, was born in the early 1980s, which in this project is intended to be the Digital Media Center for the Limbo event.
